We released Thunderbird Conversations 2.0 a few days ago! Thunderbird Conversations, as the name implies, is a Thunderbird addon that equips your favorite email client with a conversation view. We worked on both Thunderbird and Conversations, hence the two simultaneous releases: Thunderbird Conversations 2.0 goes with Thunderbird 5.0.

Naturally, a lot of bugs were uncovered during the first few days, so I had to release 2.0.1, then 2.0.2, then 2.0.3. 2.0.4 hasn’t been pushed yet, which means things have been getting more quiet…

Highlights include:

a quick reply feature,

tight integration with your Thunderbird workflow,

contact tooltips,

support for viewing a conversation in a tab,

integration with other extensions (enigmail, lightning),

quote collapsing,

and many more.

There’s a couple of minor annoyances that you might run into :

if you have customized your fonts, chances are you’ll complain; this is covered in the FAQ and there’s a workaround

some obscure options are not yet taken into account, you can check whether we’re aware of the issue by checking our issue list

If you have issues, please do not hesitate to report them using the link above. If you have feedback, or general comments about the addon, please leave a message in the google group. We’d love to hear about your feedback!

Welcome to the latest release of Mozilla F1. We have two new and exciting changes!

The Toolbar button has moved

With this latest release we’re moving the toolbar button beside the bookmark star icon, this is part of an effort to integrate better with Firefox.

F1 is now a restart-less add-on

Well, you had to restart one more time to get this feature, but it’s the last time. We swear! Future versions of F1 will be able to update themselves without requiring you to restart your browser. When a new version is ready it will download and update itself automatically (according to your preferences of course).

That’s pretty awesome!

If you’re interested in the technical details behind this change see the Firefox restart-less add-on documentation.

F1 Feedback

A slight change during this release is that we’ve also made a new home specifically for Mozilla F1 feedback. If you have an idea for improving F1 drop us a line or vote up the ideas you think are important. Thanks!

Firefox integration

We’ve started down a new road in the Mozilla F1 project. We have researched sharing on the web and learned a lot about how we can improve it. Our next challenge is to examine what a sharing service would look like if it were integrated into the browser. Not just and as an add-on but a part of your browsing experience.

So bear with us as we make a few changes, hopefully the good ones will be good and the bad ones will be quick!

Mozilla F1 is a Firefox browser extension that allows you to share links in a fast, fun, and safe way. Share links from within the browser, from any webpage, using the same services you already know and love. Go try it out!

Faster

We’ve trimmed the fat and made F1 load and share much faster than it was before. Now when you share something with F1 you can watch your sharing progress right in the toolbar button.

A new version of Mozilla F1 is available. This is a bug fix/small enhancement release that builds on last week’s release. It has the following improvements:

There is now an “Advanced” tab in the Settings, which allows you to:
1. Use your own bit.ly account for URL shortening.
2. Force an update of the autocomplete list.

A change to allow the dropdowns in the F1 panel to work on Linux.

Even better security for your information: your OAuth information is now stored in the browser.

There is a new version of the add-on, 0.7.6, with these improvements:

Respect the bookmarking setting.

Enhanced auto-complete, including matching on @ twitter names.
