Mute Thread
| Mute Thread is an experimental add-on giving you the ability to mute an individual email thread, so that once you’ve decided you don’t care about a particular conversation, you don’t have to wade through more messages in it as they continue to arrive. |
Instructions
When you’re viewing a message, and you decide that you wish to ignore the entire thread that the message is part of, go to the Message Menu and select the Ignore Thread entry.
WARNING: it’s possible to lose track of email threads by inadvertently hitting “K” (the shortcut for Ignore Thread) without noticing.
Threads that have been ignored in the past can be reviewed using the View > Threads > Ignored Threads menu option. Due to a bug in current versions of Thunderbird, you’ll have to exit and re-enter the folder in order for the ignored threads to re-appear.
Release notes
We have ideas about how Mute Thread’s user-experience could evolve to be significantly better. But for that to happen, Mute Thread needs a developer or two to lead that charge. If you think this might be you, please let us know! The source code lives on bitbucket (link below); if you want to experiment, feel free to fork it.
